Returning to the Mountains of Chihuahua
Earlier this year, our team of 53 traveled deep into the mountains of Chihuahua, Mexico, to serve the indigenous Tarahumara people. Over 1,000 individuals received much-needed medical and dental care, and many heard the message of Hope in Jesus for the first time. It was an incredible journey filled with stories of transformation and God’s faithfulness.
Now, we’re preparing to return, this time with a team of 60 and even more resources. We’re excited to bring expanded medical and dental services, including a new ultrasound, dental unit, and X-ray equipment. Our psychologists will provide biblical counseling, and we’ll offer haircuts and optometry services + glasses to meet practical needs in these very remote areas.
This mission will take us over 20 hours into the mountains to reach communities that are often overlooked. We’re trusting God to guide and sustain us as we serve and share His love.
For The Kidz
This year, we are bringing baby formula, children’s vitamins, and groceries to support the mothers and children who come to our medical clinics. Earlier this year, we encountered many malnourished children, a heartbreaking reality we cannot ignore. A 2021 study revealed that 44.4% of Tarahumara children under five suffer from stunted growth due to chronic malnutrition. Our goal is to provide immediate relief while sharing God’s love and hope in these communities.
We were deeply moved by the Tarahumara people’s determination and gratitude. Some walked over three hours to receive medical care—often we are the only doctors they will see this year. For many, it was their first time visiting a dentist. The community welcomed us with a heartfelt celebration, expressing their amazement that we had come all the way to their remote village. They shared that we were the first medical team to ever visit, a humbling reminder of the impact we can have in these underserved areas.
