Nicaragua

A Recap of Echo Team's Spring Missions in Nicaragua

This spring, Echo Team embarked on a transformative journey across Central America, culminating in the remote mountains of Nicaragua. What began as a month of youth conferences in Mexico, El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras evolved into a mission of hope, resilience, and impact in the persecuted country of Nicaragua. Here's a look back at the unforgettable experiences of March and April.

    Empowering the Next Generation

Our journey began with youth conferences in Querétaro, Mexico, where 500 attendees gathered for worship and teaching. From there, our team of 28 ventured to El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras, training young leaders to minister alongside us. Watching these youth step boldly into their calling was a powerful reminder of God’s faithfulness and the importance of equipping the next generation.

After weeks of conferences and discipleship, we headed to Nicaragua—a country ranked among the top 30 for Christian persecution. The challenges ahead were significant, but our mission was clear: to bring medical, dental, and spiritual care to some of the most remote and underserved communities.

      The Journey to Nicaragua

Reaching our destination in the mountains of Nicaragua required three days of travel, including boat rides through jungle rivers. The final leg of our journey was a three-hour horseback ride, where we were greeted warmly by villagers eager to receive care and hope.

With no running water or electricity, we relied on our own supplies, including water and generators brought in by pack mules. Despite these challenges, our team was ready to serve.

      Meeting Needs and Sharing Hope

Our medical and dental clinics became a lifeline for the community. Over several grueling 12-hour days in 113-degree heat, we were excited to provide:

-   Medical and Dental Care  : More than 300 patients received consultations, ultrasounds, and dental procedures.

-   Vision Services  : We distributed over 150 pairs of prescription and reading glasses, bringing clear vision and joy to many for the first time.

The persecution in Nicaragua remains evident. One woman tearfully shared how, on Easter, police forcibly closed her church and confiscated the property. Yet, her faith remained steadfast: “We’re waiting to see what God will do,” she said. Another pastor canceled an event we had scheduled at his church, fearing for the safety. Witnessing the firsthand effects of this persecution broke our hearts for our brothers and sisters in Christ. Please continue to keep them in your prayers.

      God’s Light in the Darkness

The spiritual impact of this trip was as profound as the physical care we provided. Nicaragua's challenges—governmental pressure on churches, lack of resources, and isolation—have not extinguished the faith of its people. On the contrary, their boldness in the face of adversity serves as an example to us all.

Reflecting on this journey, we are grateful for the opportunity to share Christ’s love and meet tangible needs. These missions are a testament to what’s possible when people come together to serve, pray, and support.

      How You Can Help

None of this would have been possible without the prayers and generosity of our supporters. The trip required extensive resources, including $10,000. Your contributions made every prescription filled, every tooth repaired, and every Gospel conversation shared possible.

We invite you to be part of this mission—whether through prayer, financial support, or simply sharing our story. To see the impact firsthand, check out the recap video of our trip on YouTube. Witness the heartfelt gratitude, incredible scenery, and life-changing moments that defined this spring.
