2021 Year In Review
“Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous works among all the peoples!”
Psalm 96:3
2021 has been a year of incredible growth for Echo! We are blown away by God’s provision for our ministry and for the opportunities He has given us to Echo Christ around the world! Seven countries were reached with the gospel this year and this is only the beginning. We are honored to continue following God wherever He leads us. Here is a short summary of what Echo has done this year and what our goals are for 2022.
January | Mexico
We led a team of 60 to a remote area of Mexico that is only accessible by riverboat. Since this area has no healthcare options, we brought a medical team and checked on the local church. We were so encouraged to see how much their congregation had grown since our last visit and that they are now taking the gospel up the river to other nearby villages. We are thrilled that they are modeling a Biblical model of evangelism and discipleship and praise God for the great things He is doing there! (Learn more: January Mountain Trip)
June | Houston, USA
We served for four weeks with Reaching Out to Kids (ROK). After training over 73 youth how to share the gospel, we took them out to share all over Houston. We shared at daycares, apartment complexes and public parks! In total, the gospel was shared with a grand total of 1,437! 404 of those individuals made decisions to put their faith in Christ. It is so wonderful to see this generation sharing Christ in their local communities!
Taking a team of 31, we reached 13 different cities in 21 days with clinics and outreach by going house-to-house, preaching in city squares, teaching at rehab facilities, and encouraging local churches. We reached 4,300 individuals with a small budget of only $5,000! The local youth on our team were also discipled and left inspired to keep serving God and continue growing in Him. (For a more in depth look at this trip, see our blog: Medical Missions)
August | El Salvador, Honduras, & Guatemala
Several ECHO team members went and served with SOS and helped lead their ministry of health clinics and evangelism throughout Central America. We were honored and humbled to help serve communities in these locations that have very limited options for healthcare and Christian churches. The local churches we encountered were so grateful for the supplies, services, and encouragement we offered to both their communities and church members.
September | Malawi, Africa
We trained 30 seminary students in Malawi on how to teach God’s Word and then we went hut-to-hut each day preaching the gospel. Thousands heard the gospel and hundreds of individuals made serious professions of faith. We were blown away by the deep need Africa has to hear the gospel and how so many have never heard that they could be saved and have a relationship with Jesus. We connected these people with local Christians and churches who are following up with them. We also went to Harvest Hope Home, an orphanage, where we did VBS for a week with over 60 kids. We did some workshops with the youth who then took what they learned and evangelized hut-to-hut. To see them share in their communities with boldness and faith inspired us greatly! We were also very excited to be able to share the gospel in public schools. In total, 2,630 children and youth heard the gospel in Malawi.
October | Peru
Though it was a last minute trip, we were able to bring the gospel along with medical and dental attention to an unreached people in Peru. In five days, our team of five provided healthcare to 500-600 people and reached over 700 with the gospel! God took our small team and what supplies we had and multiplied! The testimonies from this trip are incredible! (Check it out: Jungle Missions)
November | Mexico
Each year, we love to host a youth conference in Mexico to continue investing in the next generation. 400 youth registered this year and over 450 attended! After pouring into each individual through worship, preaching, and small discipleship groups, we went around the city talking to people about Jesus and sharing His love. They left the conference passionate to live out the individual callings God has made in their lives and we are looking forward to seeing how He is continuing to move in them!
December | Houston
We have been working with Breaking Boundaries Ministries and are continually creating video Bible studies for government children’s shelters and were encouraged to see the leaders ask us for notebooks so the kids could take more notes! Eight shelters are receiving the videos we create and are watched by over 1,000 youth. We have had the exciting opportunity of hosting several of these shelters for events in churches! During our last three party events each child received Christmas gifts and Bibles! They are also so hungry to learn about Jesus and so many have been saved! Thanks to generous donors we have been able to give out about 1,400 Christmas gifts and 500 Bibles to 10 shelters total!
